Inspired by classic team-issued gear, our Cross Country Sweatshirt pulls its graphic language from the sport’s nineteenth-century roots. Featuring a prominent canvas “X” – or Saltire – this symbol served as a practical identifier before the use of race numbers: simple to make, highly visible, and consistent across club members. A mark of the collective rather than personal expression, the X reinforced belonging, discipline, and the amateur ethos. Crafted from a hard-wearing reverse-weave cotton that gets better with every wear and wash.

Across Time
The athletes at Thames Hare & Hounds adopted the black X or Saltire on a white field as the symbol for their club. Here, we’ve inverted the colors and used a sturdy canvas to create the symbol, which has long been associated with identity and strength.
Attention to Detail
Crafted from a hard-wearing reverse-weave cotton, the sweatshirt is finished with a nod to cross country’s original harriers: our Eliot hare is embroidered on the wearer’s left cuff and a complementary hound on the wearer’s right.
