Crafted from a silky-smooth and light-as-air Italian fabric, the London Twilight Tee is our alternative to typical race tech tees, which tend to be anything but “technical.” To find a better solution we worked closely with our friends in Italy to find a fabric that would transform the tech tee from a top you reluctantly pulled on to one you reached for first. Finished with London on the chest, this is a tee you’ll cherish long after the race is done.

London is the birthplace of the 26.2 mile marathon. In the lead up to the 1908 London Olympics, the organizing committee planned to introduce a long distance race of 40 kilometers or 25 miles. But in order to accommodate the most royally compelling course, starting at Windsor Castle and finishing at the king’s box in White City Stadium, the final distance tallied in at a somewhat arbitrary 26 miles, 385 yards (42,195 meters). That extra mile proved fateful when the finish came down to a battle between the Italian Dorando Pietri and American John Hayes. Exhausted by the heat and distance, Pietri collapsed five times during his final lap of the track. Each time officials helped him up. Hayes finished unaided thirty seconds later in 2:55.18.4 and was (after some debate) ultimately named the champion. The distance went from arbitrary to official in 1921 when the IAAF declared 42,195 meters the internationally recognized distance for a marathon. Sixty-eight years later the first London Marathon was held on March 29, 1981.
