The best mornings begin with hot coffee and a run, in no particular order. Made by a legendary European craftsman, our 12-ounce enamel mug is the perfect early morning companion. Our latest rendition features three original illustrations of Eliot the Tracksmith hare, hand drawn by Gary Chalk.
A Tale of
When it came time to select a logo for Tracksmith, we were drawn to the hare for its natural speed and mythical associations with craftiness and creativity. We commissioned legendary British illustrator Gary Chalk to create a hand-drawn illustration of the hare and he produced three variations on the theme: a hare at rest, “hauling ass,” and floating mid-stride. Ultimately, we landed on the striding hare that adorns our pieces and affectionately named him Eliot, as a tribute to Boston’s iconic and long- lost runner’s bar, the Eliot Lounge.
The mug captures Eliot in his three speeds: resting, floating and pushing for more. There’s a time and place in the training plan for each, and finding the right balance is a runner’s life’s work.
