When it comes to layering, we look for pieces that add warmth without adding bulk. The Fresh Pond Half Zip is light enough to wear over a Harrier or Base Layer, but cozy enough to offer real protection, even on its own.

Kamilah Spears is 5'3" and wears an extra small half zip.

A great run can feel effortless. But with the wrong midlayer, it doesn’t take long before you feel weighed down, constricted and overheated. So we built this no-fuss half zip to feel weightless from mile 1 to mile 20. The secret is in our Inverno Blend, which helps moderate moisture and temperature along the way.

Our Inverno Blend from Italy is specially knit with a smooth and soft face that can fend off light precipitation, and a brushed back that provides a barrier between you and the fabric – keeping you cool on days when summer hasn’t quite given in and warm when winter arrives. The micro-nylon and elastane blend also dries quickly, making the Fresh Pond a go-to top for repeat wear.

The Fresh Pond Half Zip includes important functional details. We lined the neck with the brushed side of the fabric to reduce irritation and keep you warm, and included a zipper garage to eliminate chafing. The zipper itself has a rubber pull to make it easier to grab when your hands are cold or gloved. Low-profile thumb holes give you the option of covering your hands without ruining the sleeve if you choose not to.

There’s nothing crazy about Fresh Pond. Two and a half miles of pavement and crushed gravel complete a circle around Cambridge’s reservoir, including a small inner loop next to the parking lot that heads up the pond’s one hill and back down the other side. But every Saturday morning, at 10 A.M., you’ll find a small gathering of people lining up to race either one or two laps. The races have been run on Christmas morning, in sub-zero temperatures and through the steamiest of summers. There hasn’t been a cancellation in at least 15 years, and probably much longer. This simplicity, consistency and high level of performance is what inspired the name of our new half-zip.
