Seize The Racing Moment
Inspired by four of the greatest performances in Penn Relays' history, our 2019 Relay Singlet has race day written all over it. The speedy silhouette is cut from an Italian-made, breathable and quick-drying mesh, with an even lighter open mesh back panel for increased breathability. Fully bonded seams and a sublimated sash round out the performance details.

When you’re chasing World and American Records - like the Tennessee women in 2010 - there’s no detail too small in the pursuit of performance. For the this year's Relay Singlet we used a polyester mesh that’s lightweight (90 grams/square meter), soft, moisture-wicking and dries in a flash. We combined it with a more open mesh on the side and back panels for added breathability in high sweat zones. Fully bonded seams keep the singlet feeling light-as-air and prevent any rubbing.
Penn State 1985, Villanova 1988, Arkansas 1989, Tennessee 2010. From setting world records to upsetting Olympians, these four teams represent some of the most incredible racing moments in Penn Relays history. The 2019 Relay Collection riffs on their racing uniforms: classic collegiate colors designed to make a statement on Franklin Field’s back stretch. Explore their stories in their own words, here.
Pass The Baton
Relay races can bring out the best in athletes. In competing with and for our teammates, we draw from new reserves. Collegiate relays are particularly memorable, an opportunity for disparate personalities to come together in the pursuit of a common goal. In choosing these collegiate colors, we honor that experience of racing as a unit and the pride that goes with it. As Kathy Flemming (née Franey) of the Villanova DMR said, "Focus, win your leg and we win. And if you don’t win your leg, your teammate will have to make up the ground. End of story. No splits nor strategies. Just win."
To capture the Relay Kits in their element, we took a group of athletes to White Stadium in Franklin Park to run a series of co-ed mile relay races on Boston’s most historic track. Built in 1949, the stadium’s unique art-deco style was the ideal backdrop to the kit’s classic collegiate style.
