Apparel Designer

Location: Boston

The Apparel Designer will design technical performance apparel and accessories by conceptualizing ideation sketches, material specifications and product details with consideration for the unique Tracksmith aesthetic and creative vision while following timeline goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Create Men's and Women’s high performance technical apparel, outwear, and accessory designs that meet the needs of the target consumer.
•Create design concepts and guide them from development to production through the use of tech packs and prototyping within the project timelines.
•Partner with product development to source seasonal material and trim palette, with an emphasis on innovation, performance and sustainability.
•Involvement and support with product testing.
•Supply all relevant information for BOMs and color CADs to the development/production team.
•Collaborate with design and creative teams on seasonal color and print stories.
•Assist in the fit review process in collaboration with product and technical development.
•Maintain fit notes and update all tech packs, BOM notes and CADs following fittings on schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

Apparel Design:


•7+ years of apparel design experience.
•Ability to apply and perform design skills such as: drawing/sketching, ideation, digital & physical prototyping and visual presentation.
•Familiarity with current apparel/outerwear trends.
•Expertise in and a strong eye for color, material & graphics.
•Deep understanding of garment construction, technical and functional applications, pattern making, silhouettes, drape, construction techniques, fabrication and trim.
•Possess broad knowledge of apparel product development.
•Familiar with the apparel industry and its merchandising and marketing principles.
•Comfort in collaborative environments and within cross functional teams.

Sport Culture:


•Keen awareness of the culture and lifestyle that surrounds running and/or other endurance sports.
•Experience crafting authentic product narratives driven by the culture/community of a sport lifestyle.
•Understands the role storytelling plays in bringing a concept to life.

Performance:


•Deep understanding of running and/or other endurance sports.
•Experience working with competitive athletes.
•Proven ability to translate athlete insights into meaningful product solutions/innovation that measurably improve athlete performance.

Innovation:

•Passionate about sport progression through innovation.
•A strong desire to challenge and disrupt the performance product status quo.
•Knowledge and experience of advanced manufacturing methods.

Materials:


•Well versed in performance material design and development.
•Possesses broad knowledge of the apparel/outerwear material vendor landscape.
•Strong ability to create material solutions for high function applications.
