The athletes of Speed City wore their team-issued gear with pride. Inspired by the kits they donned to warm up and cool down, this short-sleeved crewneck sweatshirt features classic varsity lettering and our Tracksmith x Puma insignia.
Moisture-wicking technology and elevated collab co-branding are anything but dated. A raw hem sleeve adds a dash of DIY to this classic crewneck, made from at least 20% recycled French terry cotton.

Together Tracksmith and Puma celebrate the legacy of Speed City, the dominant California men’s collegiate running program of the mid-20th century, whose athletes not only set global standards for performance but also fought for social justice through the Olympic Project for Human Rights and the 1968 Mexico City protest. It’s a culture of courage that lives on today.
Five percent of all Speed City Collection sales on Tracksmith.com will go to benefit the work of the Tracksmith Foundation to protect and create opportunities for youth in track and field.
Speed City was known for making statements on the track, paving the way for today's sprinting stars. At practice, on race day and around campus, they brought a signature style to classic activewear styles.
There are some stories that demand to be told in full. Tracksmith's first-ever podcast is a collaboration with Revisionist History’s Malcolm Gladwell, entitled Legacy of Speed. It tells the tale of Speed City from its origins to its impact.
The cultural impacts of Speed City cannot be underestimated. They established a global standard for performance and set in motion the dominance of sprinting in the United States and Jamaica for decades to come. Their activism galvanized the world and established a precedent for fighting for social justice through sport. It’s a battle that’s still being waged to this day. Together, Tracksmith and Puma celebrate the legacy of Speed City and their culture of courage.
