FAST NOT LOOSE
The Van Cortlandt Shorts strike the ideal balance between race-ready function and common good taste. It starts by defining the proper shape - one built for speed, but cut for dignity. Falling in the 4" inseam sweet spot and made from a lightweight and antimicrobial fabric, these shorts are a simple, modern take on a running classic.
QUALITY FROM THE INSIDE OUT
In our experience, a running short is only as good as its liner. So we built these from the inside out, using the same near-weightless, anti-stink 2:09 Mesh as the rest of the short. It's stitched with three separate panels for a more considered, comfortable fit that won’t leave you hanging.
The best way to test a running garment is to put it through a hard workout - it'll surface any issues, like chafing. So this spring we asked 3:58-miler Jack Bolas to take us through one of his favorite speed workouts for track season.
The first thing we looked for was how it responded when things heated up - there’s nothing worse than shorts that stick to your skin when you sweat. We also looked for how the shorts moved with Jack's stride - some are too tight at the leg opening and you feel it working against your thigh. And finally, we didn’t check personally, but Jack reported no chafing after the workout.
